Coprolalia
Some children and adults with Tourette Syndrome may swear (coprolalia) The derision & attention it attracts is unwarranted. It is involuntary & RARE (10% or less of cases). Other 'socially inappropriate' phrases, comments or gestures can occur. These are not representational of the individuals true intentions or feelings and may result in extreme embarrassment and cause them to avoid social situations leading to isolation.
